October is Pastors Appreciation Month: A Time to Honour Those Who Lead Us Spiritually

it@adventistontario.org

Each October, we pause to recognize and express our deep appreciation for the pastors who serve our churches with unwavering dedication, compassion, and spiritual leadership. Pastors Appreciation Month is not only a time to say "thank you," but also an opportunity to reflect on the high calling and sacred responsibility our pastors have accepted in shepherding God’s people.
Across the Ontario Conference, we are blessed with pastors—alongside their spouses and families—who sacrifice daily to minister to their congregations, often quietly and behind the scenes. Whether preaching, visiting the sick, mentoring youth, supporting families, leading outreach initiatives, or offering counsel during times of crisis, our pastors are constantly pouring themselves into the lives of others.
These men and women have responded to God’s call to prepare His people for Christ’s soon return and to faithfully carry out the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Their work is not always easy, but it is always essential.
Let’s Show Our Appreciation
This month, we invite every member, church, and ministry to find meaningful ways to show appreciation to your pastor and their family. Here are a few suggestions:
- Pray for them publicly and privately – Their work is spiritual warfare, and they need our daily intercession.
- Share words of encouragement – A simple message, card, or email can uplift their hearts more than you know.
- Plan a special moment of recognition during a Sabbath service.
- Offer practical support – Whether it’s a home-cooked meal, a gift, or an offer to help with a church task, small acts of kindness go a long way.
- Celebrate their families – Ministry is a shared journey. Spouses and children play a vital role and deserve our thanks too.
A Word from the Ministerial Department
On behalf of the Ontario Conference and the Ministerial Department, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to every pastor, their spouse, and their children. Your tireless labor, spiritual strength, and commitment to the calling of ministry are deeply appreciated and do not go unnoticed.
We recognize the emotional, physical, and spiritual demands you face, and we thank God for your resilience, humility, and faithfulness. May you continue to be filled with the Holy Spirit, encouraged in your work, and blessed beyond measure as you serve.
