Pentecost Report: From Homeless to the King’s Palace
January 14, 2026 | Elvis Dumitru | Sudbury Seventh-day Adventist Church
For Noah, the streets of Sudbury were a place of exhaustion and despair. Far from his family, homeless and desperate, he felt he had reached the end of his rope.
One Saturday morning, Noah found himself in the parking lot of the Sudbury Seventh-day Adventist Church. Surprised to see a church worshipping on the Sabbath, he felt a sudden pull to enter. With tears in his eyes, he approached the Pastor with a simple, raw plea: "I desperately need God in my life."
The Sudbury congregation responded with more than words. Led by their Head Deacon, Ray Mongrain, the church mobilised to change Noah’s life: they secured him a safe place to stay and helped him find a steady job, restoring his independence.
During the Pentecost Series, Noah’s spiritual journey reached its peak. Moved by the Word of God, he chose to give his life to Jesus through baptism, trading his old life for a place in the "King’s Palace." On December 20, 2025, Noah was baptised!
Today, Noah serves weekly at the Elgin Street Mission, providing hot meals and hope to those experiencing homelessness and fighting addiction. Having once walked in their shoes, Noah is now a living testament to the power of a welcoming church and a life-changing God.
