Blankets of Hope: Kanata Young Adults Prepare for Global Youth Day
Posted: March 18th, 2026

At the beginning of 2026, the Young Adults of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Kanata met to set goals and objectives for the year. Among the three main goals they identified was a commitment to cultivate community outreach.
One of the objectives identified to support this goal was to complete a service project for homeless teenagers in downtown Ottawa. The chosen project was to make ten no-sew blankets that could provide warmth and comfort to youth experiencing homelessness.
To carry out this initiative, the young adults gathered on Saturday evening, March 7, 2026. As they worked together to make the blankets, the activity fostered teamwork, encouraged creativity, and included many moments of shared laughter and fellowship.
The finished blankets, along with the book Steps to Christ and a small non-perishable sack lunch, will be handed out during Global Youth Day on Saturday, March 21, 2026. On this day, young people are encouraged to go beyond traditional church attendance and bring their faith into their communities through service and outreach.
