Oracle Master Guide Mission Trip Inspires Hope in Parry Sound

From July 2 to 6, 2025, the Oracle Master Guide Club went on a mission trip—not to another country or across the ocean, but just two hours north of Toronto. We visited and stayed at a small church in Parry Sound with the intention of renovating the space and inspiring its members, while also reaching out to the local community. The church's membership had dwindled to just a few dedicated individuals who were doing their best to keep it running. The building was in desperate need of repairs and a fresh infusion of energy.
We didn’t bring much—just some tools, paintbrushes, and willing hands. However, what we experienced was far more than a renovation project. It served as a reminder that God doesn’t ask for much; He only asks for what we have. When we give our time and resources, He multiplies them.
As Seventh-day Adventists, we believe that outreach is not just a program; it's a calling. Christ Himself said in Matthew 25 that whatever we do for “the least of these,” we do for Him. The objective of Master Guides is to spread the Advent message to all the world in our generation—not just through preaching, but through acts of love, service, and presence. This mission trip exemplified that goal.
I’ll be honest—there were moments when I questioned whether our small group could really make a difference. But by the end of the day, as we admired the freshly painted walls, the cleaned-up yard, and most importantly, the grateful faces of the church members, I realized that even though our numbers were small, everyone was willing to contribute and play their part.
Too often, we hesitate to get involved in mission work or outreach because we believe we’re not skilled enough, young enough, old enough, or knowledgeable enough. However, I believe that mission work is not solely about our abilities; it’s about our availability. By showing up and allowing ourselves to be used by the Holy Spirit, we can influence and inspire others. The church members were not only encouraged by what we accomplished; they were uplifted by the fact that someone showed up, someone noticed them, and someone cared.
If you've ever questioned whether your help truly matters, let me assure you—it does. Our church family extends far beyond the walls of our local congregation. When one part of the body hurts, we all feel it; and when one part is lifted, we all rise.
So, if you're feeling that gentle nudge to get involved—listen to it. Join the next outreach, mission trip, or opportunity to serve. You don’t need to have all the answers. You just need a willing heart.
Every act of service, no matter how small, echoes in eternity.
