After 37 years of faithful and dedicated service, we celebrate the retirement of Ruth Weidner.
Ruth began her ministry with the Ontario Conference in 1977 and served until 1988. She then stepped away from active work to focus on raising her children—an investment that speaks to her deep commitment to family.
In 1999, she returned to denominational service as a sales clerk at the Eastern Canada Adventist Book Centre, serving from 1999 to 2008 and again from 2009 to 2010. In 2009, she also worked as a secretary for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada.
In 2010, she rejoined the Ontario Conference, where she served faithfully until her retirement on May 1, 2026.
Over the decades, Ruth has been a steady, compassionate, and highly dependable presence. She faithfully served as a secretary in nearly every department of the conference, including Youth and Camp Ministries; Health and Temperance; Auditing; Publishing; Secretariat; AMP Club Ministries; Health and Prayer Ministries; Prison Ministries and School of Evangelism; Singles, Children’s and Women’s Ministries; Stewardship and Church Building Investment Fund; Family and Men’s Ministries; as well as Sabbath School and Personal Ministries. Her breadth of service reflects not only her versatility but also her willingness to support wherever she was needed most.
Beyond her formal roles, Ruth has been a quiet yet powerful force behind the success of the conference’s social committee. Her creativity, exceptional attention to detail, and Christ-centred spirit have left a lasting impression on every event and every person she encountered.
Ruth has earned the deep respect and appreciation of administrators, directors, and fellow support staff alike for her warmth, generosity, unwavering faith, caring spirit, and steadfast commitment to ministry—qualities that have enriched the workplace and strengthened the mission of the Ontario Conference.
As she enters this new season of life, we give thanks to God for her years of fruitful service and the meaningful impact she has made. We invite you to join us in expressing heartfelt gratitude and in praying for God’s continued blessings on Ruth in the years ahead.
